JOHOR BARU, July 27 — Seven suspects detained to assist with the investigation into the murder of Estonian model Regina Soosalu at Pulau Rawa on July 1 have been released on bail, The Star Online reported today.
The suspects were released under Section 388 of the Criminal Procedure Code with one surety each, according to Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan, as quoted by the news portal.
He also confirmed that Soosalu’s body was released to her family two days ago.
“The police have also forwarded our investigation papers to the Public Prosecution unit for further action,” he added.
Soosalu’s death remains a mystery. Her body was found on July 1 on Rawa Island where she spent most of her time with her boyfriend, Tunku Alang Reza Tunku Ibrahim.
Police initially investigated her death as drowning but reclassified the case as murder when they found scratches and bruises on her body.
