KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — A total of 98,427 holders of the IMM13 documents are reported to have been registered in the country since the issuance of the document was introduced in 1999, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, however, said that of the total, only 60,248 people were still active.

“The issuance of the document was made on humanitarian reason aimed at enabling holders of the documents to move, stay, study and work in Sabah.

“It was also issued as one of the measures to resolve the problems of illegal immigrants in Sabah,” he said when replying to a question from Datuk Madius Tangau (BN-Tuaran) who wanted to know the number of IMM13 document holders in the country and what was the future for the holders of this document.
