PARIS, Feb 12 ― French fashion's governing body ― the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode ― has published the provisional calendar for Paris Fashion Week, February 26 to March 6. The fall/winter 2018-2019 shows will include newcomers such as fashion house Poiret ― being revived on the runway after closing more than eight decades ago ― and a debut show from Marine Serre. Céline is currently absent from the PFW calendar.

The fashion house founded by French designer Paul Poiret, who died in 1944, will be in the spotlight at the next Paris Fashion Week. After a hiatus spanning more than eight decades, Poiret is set to make a runway comeback with a first new collection for the fall/winter 2018-2019 season.

The fashion house's creative director, designer Yiqing Yin, will helm the Poiret renaissance. The house is expected to channel the style of its founder ― with oriental inspirations and a desire to liberate the female body ― while also encompassing modern inspirations. The fashion world will discover the new collection Sunday, March 4 at 1pm (provisional date).

Beautiful People and Jourden are some the new names on the provisional Paris Fashion Week schedule, along with Marine Serre, undoubtedly one of the most hotly anticipated young designers. The June 2017 LVMH Prize winner and Hyères International Festival of Fashion finalist will present her first Fashion Week collection on the Paris runway. Her show is currently scheduled for Tuesday, February 27 at 10.30am, kicking off day two at PFW.

As yet, there's no sign of Céline on the provisional Paris Fashion Week calendar. Although some slots are still to be confirmed, it's highly probable that the fashion house will not be showing a collection this season due to recent changes at its creative helm. Hedi Slimane was named artistic, creative and image director of the fashion house in January, taking over from Phoebe Philo. As a result, the French designer's first womenswear collection could be presented in September.

This season, like every season, PFW will be a veritable fashion marathon, with almost 80 shows currently on the calendar. Big names on the Paris schedule include Dior and Saint Laurent (Tuesday, February 27), Balmain (Friday, March 2), Vivienne Westwood, Elie Saab and Hermès (Saturday, March 3), Givenchy, Balenciaga and Valentino (Sunday, March 4), and Chanel and Louis Vuitton (Tuesday, March 6). ― AFP-Relaxnews
