LOS ANGELES, Feb 2 — Comic book legend Stan Lee was hospitalised on Wednesday for shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat.
He was discharged from Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after an overnight stay.
“I’m glad I spent that evening in the hospital. It did me a lot of good. It probably did my fans a lot of good. It kept me off their backs for the evening,” Lee told LA-based TV station, KABC.
“But I’m feeling good now and I can’t wait to get in there and tangle with all the competition.”
However, Lee who was last seen attending the Black Panther premiere on Monday in Los Angeles said that he had cancelled a planned appearance at Wizard World St. Louis this weekend.
“It’s nice to know that somewhere in the world there are still people who care about what I say or do,” he told the TV station.
“And it’s nice to know that somewhere in the world there are always people who are fans who care about what people do — the people they’re interested in.”
Wednesday’s hospitalisation was the latest health scare for the 95-year-old Marvel creator.
He skipped several convention appearances last year, citing poor health.
Lee’s wife, Joan, died in July at 93 after suffering a stroke.
