SEPANG, Nov 21 — Anjung Malaysia, an area which reflects the unique Malaysian culture and flavour through the display of local architecture, products and cuisines is the latest attraction at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai today launched the Anjung Malaysia, themed “Nostalgia” that leverages on the concept of a "sense of place" to create a unique opportunity for visitors to delve into richness of Malaysian culture.
Located at the fifth floor at KLIA’s departure hall, formerly known as Anjung Tinjau, visitors and travellers will get the chance to sample local delicacies such as nasi lemak, fruit salad (rojak), laksa, Ipoh noodles and traditional kueh beside trying on traditional games such as congkak, batu seremban and draughts.
The Anjung Malaysia also showcases batik drawings beside pictorial display of Malaysia in the 50s and 60s.
Liow said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB)’s initiative in creating an Anjung Malaysia would go a long way in providing airport users with a memorable experience and create a lasting impression of national pride.
He added that Anjung Malaysia would serve the objective of the overall KLIA Aeropolis masterplan in which airports were transformed into a destination in itself.
Meanwhile, MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said Anjung Malaysia was one way of introducing Malaysia to the world by bring local tradition and cultures into the airport and creating a sense of homecoming to Malaysians.
“The integration of our national identity with Malaysia Airport’s vision, brand and service delivery strategies will be a valuable differentiating factor to KLIA,” he said in his speech read by MAHB Commercial Services senior general manager, Mohammad Nazli Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, Nazli said MAHB planned to expand the concept of Anjung Malaysia to another four airports in the country — Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2), Kuching International Airport, Penang International Airport and Langkawi International Airport — in the next two years. — Bernama
