SINGAPORE, May 25 — Changi Airport will play host to Hello Kitty and six of her Sanrio friends tomorrow.

The characters Pompompurin, My Melody, Gudetama, Cinnamoroll and Little Twin Stars (Kiki and Lala) will be accompanying the beloved Japanese cat on her sojourn to Singapore. They will make an appearance at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 to help promote its month-long Nordic showcase, which runs from May 26 to June 26.

The life-sized Sanrio characters will be launching the showcase with a song-and-dance performance in the departure area at 7pm. They will also host a meet and greet session after the performance.

James Fong, vice president of landside concessions at Changi Airport Group, said that this is the first time this many Sanrio characters will be visiting the airport.

“We look forward to an enthusiastic turnout... We’re sure our favourite Sanrio friends are just as excited to meet all their fans,” he said.

Last year, Changi Airport hosted two Pokemon Pikachu Parades, which saw thousands in attendance.

Every weekend until June 25, Sanrio fans who have a meet and greet pass can get up close and personal with the various characters. To qualify for a pass, one has to spend a total of S$60 (RM185) at Changi Airport in one day (maximum of two receipts).

3-D versions of the characters will also be seen in the Nordic showcase’s Snow Funhouse and exhibition. The exhibition will feature My Melody in a Swedish traditional costume and Pompompurin in a Viking suit. The Snow Funhouse will feature 3-D images of Hello Kitty, Gudetama and Cinnamoroll engaged in various winter activities. — TODAY
