KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Looking for something fun yet meaningful to do with the family this weekend? Well, you might want to head to Jaya One in PJ then for the Art For Grabs event.

A joint project by Sisters in Islam and Jaya One, the Art For Grabs event is back to inspire everyone to explore their creativity, learn about their basic rights and also tap the inner superheroes within us.

Themed “Family Squad”, there will be 90 art and activism booths, featuring homemade art and crafts as well as meaningful causes that make us proud to be Malaysian.

Aside from that, there will also be 13 events ranging from book launches to screenings, readings and discussions about how we can turn our country into the big loving One Malaysia we all dream of.

The Art For Grabs will be held this weekend from 12pm to 8pm at the Ground floor of The School at Jaya One.

Here is a list of some of the events you can look forward to this weekend at the Art For Grabs event:

Children Without Rights in Malaysia: This is a forum that will look at Malaysia’s refusal to grant rights to certain children.

Promoting Greater Police Accountability in Malaysia: This is a forum by the Bar Council of Malaysia that will revisit the setting up of the IPCMC.

Membalas Naratif Ekstrim: This is a forum by KMU on the rise of extremist discourse in Malaysia with Ustaz Wanji, Dina Zaman, Afiq Md Nor and Wong Yuenmei.

Politics: Where are our women?: A forum by The G-Blog featuring actual women politicians like DAP Adun for Damansara Utama Yeo Bee Yin, and President of Healthcare Bureau of Puteri Umno Dr Nur Faizah Ali.

Talking About the P-Word with Family: A talkshow on how we discuss about politics with family members that will feature actor Fatimah Abu Bakar with daughter Sharifah Aleysha as well as lawyer Siti Kasim with daughter Yuli Yuslizar, among others.

The Art of Mockery: Who gets the last laugh?:  This is a forum by Projek Dialog on political humour, featuring Chak Onn Lau (Cilisos editor), Isham Rais (NGO), Maya Tan Abd (BFM) and actor Farah Rani.

Keluargaku Moden: A special session by Sisters In Islam which brings up what does it take to create a family that is truly equal and respectful of each member.

Tips Untuk Wanita Islam: A series of animation by Norhayati Kaprawi with advice for Muslim women. Yati will be accompanied by former Mufti of Terengganu Dato Haji Ismail bin Yahya, who also happens to be the former Syariah Chief Judge of Terengganu.
