BEIJING, April 22 — Remember last year when a teacher in Sichuan, China, made headlines around the world, after he got his tardy students to write out a complicated 58-stroke Chinese character 1,000 times?

Well, a school in Chengdu, China, might just have topped that — with what appears to be a world’s first.

According to Mashable, the University of Electronic Science and Technology has introduced a digitally-inspired punishment that befits its curriculum.

Students who turn up late for class are tasked with writing out 1,000 emojis.
