NEW YORK, Dec 11 — It's time for another round of 100 year beauty videos from the team at Cut Video and this time they look to the Far East.

In the video, model Leah Li demonstrates how beauty standards have changed in China over the last century, and the differences are pretty striking. It starts from the 1910s which featured middle-parted bangs that moved on to the wavy bob of the 1920s, right down to Shanghai girl of the 1930s

The looks then go from the glam red lips of the 1940s to a modest head scarf in the 1950s and a tribute to the 1960s under the ruling of Chairman Mao.

It’s interesting to note how the beauty looks were not solely influenced by events in China itself but by Hong Kong drama series, K-pop and of course American or European movies.
