BANGKOK, July 2 — From “haunted” Mansion 7 to pet-friendly K-Village, Bangkok is fast becoming home to unusual shopping malls.

But none offer a respite from the city’s notorious heat quite like Snow Town.

The complex, which opened yesterday at Gateway Ekamai mall, claims to be the largest indoor snow shopping mall in Southeast Asia.

The over 3,000-square-metre space is filled with a long list of restaurants from Hokkaido, such as Steak no Don, Aji No Tokeidai and Hanabatake Bokujo, alongside shops and other attractions.

The artificial snow is said to be 30-40cm deep, allowing for such activities as skiing (apparently lessons will be offered), snowboarding and snowball fights.

Other promised attractions include an igloo-like Kamakura snow house and Oekaki interactive zone.
