LOS ANGELES, June 15 — The Memphis, Tennessee home of Elvis Presley has been voted as the number-one destination for music loving tourists by readers of USA Today.

The king of rock n’ roll’s abode was one of 20 attractions or destinations readers were asked to vote for, including London’s Abbey Road studios and Detroit’s Motown museum.

However, Graceland won by a landslide as did its state, Tennessee, which is the most represented in the list. Sun Studios (where everyone from the King to Johnny Cash recorded their first songs) came second, The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville took fourth, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music ranked in fifth and Dollywood took sixth place.

And the result has made Tennessee’s tourist board very happy. “Readers of the nation’s No. 1 newspaper have declared Tennessee the No. 1 best state for music,” said Kevin Triplett, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development. “These five Tennessee attractions are at the top, but that’s just the beginning of all Tennessee has to offer to music fans from around the world.” — AFP Relaxnews
