VARANASI, April 4 — In India’s northern temple town of Varanasi, where macaques are exalted as religious symbols, a strange problem is confronting the human inhabitants.

It seems these guys are monkeying around with the Wi-Fi cables — and it’s causing chaos for people trying to get on-line.

“I am trying to get Wi-Fi, but I could not get it, so it is like hard to get Wi-Fi. I really want to text my mom and text my sister. That is a problem I am facing,” Melisa, a foreign tourist said.

The wires are strewn haphazardly between buildings and often end up with chunks bitten out of them.

Plastic coverings don’t seem to do the trick.

Officials say some of the town’s optical cables have been laid underground but it’s not possible everywhere.

For now, it seems, there’s no quick fix for this monkey business. — Reuters
