ZUG, Nov 7 — Swiss design brand Vitra has unveiled its “Soft Pad” chair collection in a new autumnal color palette for the cold season.

Created by famous American designers Charles and Ray Eames in 1969, the Soft Pad combines an industrial metal frame with soft cushioning for a voluptuous aesthetic.

The design has been modified to incorporate viscoelastic foam and a new color palette in semi-aniline leather with a natural grain and an appealingly soft surface.

Created by Hella Jongerius, the new colorways encompass a range of 22 muted, earthy shades which highlight the natural quality and smooth texture of this fine leather. The new designs were unveiled earlier this month at Orgatec.

The hues comes in three color groups: warm reddish-browns, cool greens and blues, and contrasting shades with a focus on white-grey-black. The new look also includes contrast stitching, which lends them a handcrafted quality.

Contemporary studio Vitra was founded in 1934 as a shop-fitting business and has gone on to become one of the most pioneering names in the interior design business. — AFP-Relaxnews
