COPENHAGEN, Nov 2 — Danish design stalwart Republic of Fritz Hansen is releasing two limited editions of its Series 7 chair next year to mark its 60th anniversary.

First created in 1955 by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen, the stackable Series 7 chair remains in production and 2015 will see the introduction of a pale pink lacquer edition with 24-carat gold-plated legs and a dark blue lacquer edition with burnished legs.

The two contrasting designs represent the concepts of femininity and masculinity to fit in with the 60th anniversary theme of “Opposites Attract.” Each chair has a commemorative golden plate mounted on the underside of the shell.

The Series 7 chair has become a design classic in the first six decades of its life, being displayed everywhere from MoMA in New York to Centre Bakery in Tokyo. It is the most sold chair in the history of Fritz Hansen. — AFP-Relaxnews
