PETALING JAYA, Dec 2 — Nothing is more satisfying than a juicy burger eaten on the street.

We're spoiled for choice when it comes to street burgers — from Ramly burgers to Wagyu burgers — which can be found at every corner of the city. There's something for everyone, whatever your budget.

Lately I have been frequenting 62 GrillStreet Burger, thanks to a friend who is a big fanboy of their food.

What they excel in is their smash burgers. That method uses a scoop of minced meat — smashed down with a spatula — creating a flat, thin patty. The flattening just gives the patty a flavourful, crisp sear as it sizzles on the hot griddle, cooking in its own fat.

What I like is how they manage to retain the juices in the thin patty. Bite into the burger and it has a contrast of textures with the crisp edge followed by the juicy meat.

Stick to the simple but satisfying Classic Smash burger with crispy edged patty that is smashed and cooked on a hot griddle.

For a beef bacon variation, there is their Bend It Like Bacon.

The menu is peppered with interesting names for their burgers. There's The Big Misteak. Or how about Bend It Like Bacon, taking inspiration from the movie Bend it Like Beckham. You even have The Fun Guy.

You may be attracted by those flashy names but honestly, the best is just their Classic Smash (RM12). If you're feeling hungry, just upscale the burger to a Double Smash (RM18). And if you're looking for a droolworthy photo or you're just incredibly caveman hungry, there's Trippple Smash for RM24.

The Classic Smash keeps it simple with a soft bun, tangy homemade creamy sauce, sauteed onions and lettuce. You also have cheddar cheese placed on the patty.

You can order your burger via Grab but the best way to relish it is straight away from the hot griddle. There's a few tables and chairs placed at the side of the eatery so just sit down and relish that juicy burger before the buns get soaked.

I have not tried The Big Misteak (RM29) but a friend did try the burger that is built around a ribeye steak. Apparently it starts out well but the middle part tends to be soggy. If you want a slight variation from the classic, Bend It Like Bacon (RM17) incorporates a slice of beef bacon. Personally I found the addition of the bacon to be just extra protein as it doesn't add much texture or taste to the whole ensemble.

There's also a grilled chicken burger too if you're not into beef.

On Friday, there's a night market outside the burger place. Usually there's parking in front of the shop since they're the only place along the row of shops that is open at night. However, on Friday, the spaces tend to be taken up by those who frequent the night market.

It's best to eat your burgers fresh from the hot griddle so queue up for your food.

To get here, just Waze to their location. It's a little dark when you drive into the area but you will be greeted by the bright lights of the eatery and that pink neon sign proudly proclaiming "Smashing In Your Area."
