KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 — Renowned celebrity chef Martin Yan was recognised with an international award for the Culinary Arts category at the CHT Awards and Ball 2016, held here last night.

The Hong Kong-born Canadian chef became popular through his 500 episodes of cooking television programme Wok with Yan, which was produced in the ‘80s.

The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail presented the CHT International Award-Culinary Arts 2016 trophy to Yan at the “Le Connoisseur”-themed event at a leading hotel here. Yan was among the 11 recipients including from Australia, the United States, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand, who received the award in the international category.

Malaysian entrepreneur Datuk Syed Mohamad Syed Murtaza received the Lifetime Achievement Award CHT 2016, which was also presented by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin.

The Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, presented awards to 13 recipients in the national category.

CHT Network president Ch’ng Huck Theng said the award was organised to recognise the achievement of individuals in their field of endeavour at global and national levels.

CHT Network, established in 2008, will continue to be a platform for individuals to create a larger network in various fields.

Present at the ceremony were Lebanese Ambassador to Malaysia Ali Daher, Pakistan High Commissioner to Malaysia Hassan Raza and Cambodian Ambassador to Malaysia Princess Samdech Preah Reach potrei Enoch Norodom Arunrasmy. — Bernama
