KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 – Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd added another new model to their product line-up, the Suzuki S Cross, with very competitive prices, starting from RM129,888.00. (Price on-the-road without insurance)

It was not specifically mentioned, but the S Cross is expected to take over where the SX4 left off. The S Cross offers great value as it comes packed with features – a panoramic sunroof, automatic HID headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), keyless start, and a navigation system with a reverse camera.

Safety features include seven airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), and ABS with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist). Hill Hold Control (that keeps the vehicle from rolling back while on a slope is a thoughtful convenience feature that ladies will like.

The 1.6 litre VVTi engine is from the popular Suzuki Swift Sport, but with some adaptations for better fuel economy, and a more ‘meaty’ lower end. Engine power is 117 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, while torque is 156Nm at 4,400 rpm. Fuel economy based on NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) is mooted at 17.2 kilometres or 5.81 litres per 100 kilometres. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is mooted at 11.0 seconds.

Drive is to the front wheels via a CVT (Constantly Variable Transmission).  A set of paddle shifters is incorporated. According to the presentation by Suzuki Malaysia, the exceptionally good fuel efficiency of the S Cross is due to the deployment of lightweight materials, and also aerodynamic engineering, which is also rendered to the under-body of the S Cross.  Other goodies that come with the S Cross are integrated roof rails, 17-inch alloy wheels, rain sensor and fog lamps.
