KOTA BHARU, Dec 1 — The FA of Kelantan (Kafa) has yet to find any sponsors for the 2017 season.

Acting president Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah said they were in a difficult situation as their coffers were empty but have confirmed participation in next season’s Super League.

"We need at least RM12 million to tide over the season and by December, the team would have been in place including the business of hiring players, both local and imports.

"We hope there are parties that will take pity on us and help for the continuity of the team,” he told a press conference called to announce the appointment of the new coach for the Red Warriors at Wisma Kafa in Kubang Kerian here today.

Former Ministry of Finance Football Club coach Zahasmi Ismail has been appointed as the coach for the next season.

A cosmetics company that had sponsored the Red Warriors this season declined to continue the sponsorship citing it was unhappy with the team’s performance, which translated into poor returns for its investment. — Bernama
