KUCHING, April 28 — PKR’s Willie Mongin today said it was unfair to expect him to make way for his DAP rival in the Mambong state seat, insisting he has served the area significantly longer.
The information technology entrepreneur asserted that he has been assisting the people of Mambong since 2004.
“Since 2011, I have helped to build three mini hydro power projects for three villages and organised over 200 political and social activities,” he told reporters today, saying each of the small hydroelectric schemes cost RM200,000.
“The other candidate only appeared in the scene in the last two years,” Willie said, referring to DAP’s Sanjan Daik.
His remarks came despite the senior PKR leadership today asking all to “move on” from the acrimony over the six overlapping seats with PKR.
Willie is contesting the state seat against Sanjan and Barisan Nasional’s direct candidate Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
Mambong is one of five seats that DAP asked PKR to concede in return for Batu Kitang, which the latter refused.
Mambong has 17,467 registered voters, including 996 from the police force.
Polling for the state election is on May 7.
