KOTA BARU, Oct 28 — Former Pengkalan Kubor State Assemblyman, Mat Nawawi Jusoh, died at the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM), Kubang Kerian, here last night due to heart and kidney complications.

Mat Nawawi, 69, who was also the deputy chairman of the Kelantan Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak), died at about 10.30pm.

Earlier, he was treated at the Perdana Specialist Hospital for 20 days before being transferred to HUSM last Sunday.

His son, Arjunawaty Mat Nawawi, 43, said his father had sought treatment for his ailment since December last year.

“He had undergone a heart operation 17 years ago...in December last year, my father suffered a heart attack,” he told Bernama today.

He said his farther’s remains would be laid to rest at about 1pm today at the Kelaboran Muslim Cemetery, Tumpat.

Mat Nawawi is survived by his wife, Rasiah Jamaluddin, 69, and four children.  – Bernama
